List of National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in Uttar Pradesh : Uttar Pradesh one of the most populated state in India. It is famous for its rich culture and Taj Mahal, made by Mughal king Shahajahan. Although here only one popular national parks is available, there are many wildlife sanctuaries which made this state prosperous and beautiful.

National park is the area protected by government for preservation of wildlife and biodiversity. Within this area no public development such as building, agriculture, transportation, factory set up etc are allowed. However people can visit these national parks and wildlife sanctuaries to enjoy the natural scenario.

1. Dudhwa National Park :

Dudhwa National Park is situate at Tarai, district  Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. It is spread over 500 square kilometre occupied the upper Gangetic plains and it is a vast alluvial plain. It is established in 1977. Major attraction of this park are tiger, leopard, deer, jackal etc. There are over 300 species of birds in this national park. Among them swamp francolin and slaty woodpecker are famous.

2. Hastinapur Wildlife sanctuary :

Hastinapur wildlife sanctuary is situated within the region of Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Ghaziabad, Bijnor, and Amroha districts of Uttar Pradesh. It is very sanctuary. It is founded in the year of 1986 by govt of India. It is spread over 2000 square km. Large number of jungle cat, hyena, wolf etc enriched this area.

3. National Chambal Sanctuary :

This wildlife sanctuary is situated over three state of India and the tripoint of Chambal river. It is governed by the forest department of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The total area of this wildlife sanctuary is over 5000 square km. It is famous for gengetic Dolphin. Other name of this area is Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary.

4. Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary

Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at the district of Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh. It’s area is nearly 80 sq. km. The date of foundation of this wild life sanctuary is 1972. Leopards is the main attraction of this area for it tourist. There are more than 250 species of birds available here.

A large number of medicinal plants and herbs found here which is an extra speciality of this area. Rajdari and Devadari are two famous waterfalls of this sanctuary.

5. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve

The are of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is covered by three district of Uttar Pradesh : Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich Distric and it’s area is over 800 sq. km. This is new wildlife sanctuary and founded in 2014. The good ecological condition allow the tigers to live in a suitable environment. More than 130 species of animal and 500 species of birds are found here.

6. Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary

Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is an old name of Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad bird sanctuary which is situated at Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. It is founded in 1984. This area is protected for over 245 kind of temporary birds which are migrated from Siberia, Tibet, Russia and Mongolia. The name indicated that variety of birds are the major attraction of this sanctuary.

Valmiki National Park Wildlife Sanctuary :

Valmiki national Park is established in 1989 and covered across 340 sq km. Previous it was a wildlife sanctuary (area is 550 sq km.) till 1978. It is located at West Champaran district of Bihar. This park is famous for the Royal Bengal Tigers, rhinoceros  and bison. Huge number of flying fox i.e a kind of bat are also observed here. It has vast grass land and a large number of wild cats move across this land. The best time to visit here is winter.

Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary :

Established in 1992 and covered up across 1350 sq km area. It is located at Kaimur Hills range (Kaimur District of Bihar) where beautiful lakes are present. This is the largest Wildlife Sanctuary in Bihar. It is famous for Black Buck. The best time to visit here is also winter season because many species specially the birds come here and increase the beauty of this sanctuary. This is also famous for historical terracotta painting, caves etc.

Rajgir Wildlife Sanctuary :

The Rajgir Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Nalanda district of Bihar state.  This is established in 1976 and covered up across 150 sq km. Various medicinal plants as flora and deer, leopards etc make this sanctuary important and differentiate form others.

Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin  WildLife Sanctuary :

As its name suggests that Vikramshila Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its Dolphins. It is established in 1991 and located at Bhagalpur district of Bihar. Not only Dolphin but its biodiversity is also rich for its aquatic wildlife. It spread over 55 sq km. Total number of Gangetic dolphins in the world is approximately 1500, but half of them are found here.

Kanwar Lake Bird Sanctuary :

Established in 1987 and located at Begusarai district of Bihar. It spread across 70 sq km. Kabar Taal Lake increase its importance, which is the largest Asia’s largest freshwater oxbow lake. This is the famous place for the birds lovers. This is the home of thousands of birds.

Bhimbandh WildLife Sanctuary :

Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary established in 1975 and covered across 700 sq km, situated in Munger district of Bihar state.

Gautam Budha WildLife Sanctuary :

Established in 11976 and spread over 140 sq km, situated in Gaya district of Bihar  Koderma district of Jharkhand. Leopard and Elephant are the important animals.
